Richard S. Childers, MAI
Richard Childers founded Childers Associates in 1977. His experience began as a staff
appraiser with Georgia Federal Savings Bank, now part of Wachovia Bank. Later he became an
Associate Appraiser with the southeastern division of Landauer Associates. Richard has performed
appraisal and consulting assignments throughout the United States. He has extensive experience as
an expert witness in condemnation, bankruptcy and foreclosure trials. Clients include insurance
companies, banks, government agencies, attorneys, corporations and individuals.
Richard received his B.B.A. from the University of Georgia and an M.B.A. with a
concentration in Real Estate from Georgia State University in Atlanta. He was awarded the MAI
designation in November 1976. Richard is an active participant in several professional and
volunteer organizations including the Appraisal Institute, Rotary, Georgia CASA and Saint Anne's
Episcopal Church. Richard is the past president of the Georgia Chapter of the Appraisal Institute
and served a three-year term as a national director. Richard is past president of Midtown Atlanta
Rotary and has served on the Vestry of Saint Anne Church. He is a founding member of the
Georgia Appraiser's Coalition, a group consisting of representatives from all of the recognized
appraisal trade associations in Georgia. The coalition successfully sponsored appraiser licensing
and certification legislation in Georgia and maintains an active relationship with the State of
Georgia Real Estate Appraiser's Board.

David
W. Childers, MAI David is a graduate of the
Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor Degree
in Industrial Engineering. He received a Master of Science
degree in Engineering Management from the University of
Alaska in Anchorage. Prior to entering the real estate
field, he was employed in management in the field of warehousing
and distribution, and as an industrial engineer and senior
engineer with the J.C. Penney Company. He has been engaged
exclusively as an appraiser and consultant in the real
estate field since 1978. He received the MAI designation
in 1983. David is an approved faculty member of the Appraisal
Institute and has taught on a national basis since 1986.
His appraisal and consulting experience covers a broad
variety of properties ranging from less intensive residential
uses to the most intensive, mixed use office and retail
commercial developments. David is also experienced in
court testimony and the preparation of appraisals for
this purpose. Over the past three years he has concentrated
heavily on the study of appraisal regulations and application
for eminent domain situations and is currently preparing
an educational course on this topic for use by the Georgia
Department of Transportation.
David resides in the City of Atlanta and is an active
member of the Northside United Methodist Church. He is
also a member of the Atlanta Downtown Kiwanis Club. David
has previously served as President of the Atlanta Area
Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and recently as a National
Director of the Appraisal Institute. He received the Legion
of Leaders award from the Atlanta Area Chapter of the
Appraisal Institute for 2003. |
